Bridget Jones’s Update of Day 21: BMI: 24.8 (-0.1) back up, let’s see how tomorrow is… Activity Level: Rest day, which is good because my butt is so sore after 2 day of Haute, Hot Power Yoga. Sore Butt= Good. Meditation: I need to really work on the non-Yoga day moments of meditation. The day of over and I do a Homer Simpson “Doh!” Brief Observations: I found out that Coconut milk is a killer addition to any smoothie. Just killer.

Day 21 Done.
Even though I’ve expanded upon my original Clean Detox, adding on an additional 2 weeks, I feel I can look in my rear view mirror and expound on the experience thus far…
It had been great experience thus far. With 21 days, I’ve had the opportunity to form new habits, healthy habits. Better eating. More in tune with my body. Less stressful.
For this I am grateful.
At first, I was daunted by the task at hand- I read the book, Clean: The Revolutionary Program to Restore the Body’s Natural Ability to Heal Itself. I did my research. I started 3 weeks out by cutting out the coffee. At two weeks out, I started trial runs with smoothies and elimination diet recipes, honing my skills (and taste buds) to the new diet. I’m so glad I took my time, preparing myself because it was not easy and mistakes were made. Like making smoothies with strawberries, which are a no-no. (“What do you mean strawberries?” Next it will be bananas… wait, you mean bananas are forbidden!?!? Jebus!)
Oh!… to be a foodie on a restricted diet.
Honestly, it’s nothing new. Since the kids arrived, I’ve been on gastronomical parole. Something about artisanal cheese and hot dogs just don’t jive.
So now I’m the captain of my own, highly-restricted, diet. Organic (when and wherever possible,) No Dairy, No Wheat, No Eggs, No Peanuts, No Tomatoes, No Strawberries, No Bananas, No Coffee or Caffeine, No Corn, and so forth. Goal is to get rid of allergens, and toxins, or anything that taxes the digestive system.
Some people have been curious about the Clean Detox. So I thought I’d give out the daily regimen while doing a Clean Detox:
Water with Lemon
Herbal tea and plenty of pure, clean water
Smoothie (see recipe) and supplements (Vitamin D/Calcium/Garlic/Fish Oil/Liver Cleans pills/Magnesium et al.)
If very hungry, a small handful of Pumpkin, Sunflower and/0r Almonds and lots of pure, clean water (and Probiotic pill)
A Full Meal that follows the elimination diet (partially described above) I’ve been having a grilled chicken on Spinach with a Lemon-Shallot-Dijon dressing. (see recipe below.)
If very hungry, a small handful of Pumpkin, Sunflower and/0r Almonds.
Another Smoothie
Herbal Tea and Plenty of Water
1-2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil (cold pressed EVOO)

[...] This goes to show you what having some great coaches can do! My plan now is, after today’s workout with Super-trainer Laura, I’m hitting Wholefoods. They are the other place, beside Trader Joe’s, for a lot of what I need. And though a bit more expensive on certain items, I know I will get everything I need in one shot. I’m paying for convenience and willing to do it, I’m that desperate. Next will be to grill up some chicken breasts, make a few home-made salad dressings (see recipes for yummy dressings and Flames’ Super Green Smoothie HERE.) [...]
